We are currently troubleshooting connection issues that students and staff members are having connecting to Blackboard and possibly the MyWord portal from certain internet service providers, most notably Comcast and GVTC.
At this time a workaround is to simply paste the IP address below into the web browser rather than connecting through uiw.edu or directly through blackboard.uiwtx.edu. Using this method users will be presented with a security certificate exception warning. This is OK and expected. Depending on the browser users can click ‘advanced’ or ‘show more’ and add or confirm a security exception to gain access to Blackboard or MyWord website.

The main UIW website, http://www.uiw.edu, is now up and running.

Early this AM the service provider for the main UIW website (www.uiw.edu) began experiencing issues. At this time all UIW services are functional and users can access the MyWord portal at my.uiwtx.edu without issue if they need to connect to Blackboard, Bannerweb, email, etc.
Residential Network access will be temporarily interrupted for maintenance on Sunday, October 22 from 6:00AM-6:30AM.
To correct a UIW email relay issue Blackboard will be temporarily down beginning at 1 AM CDT, Sunday, October 15,
The repair is not expected to take more than 2 or 3 hours. We are sorry for any inconvenience.
After extensive testing and setup the network team has identified some initial fixes to provide a more stable and consistent network services experience. We have re-engineered some key servers and updated settings that will push out to all computers on ALL campuses. Even with these updates we will continue to monitor closely as some services may experience lingering issues, especially bannerweb. A morning update will be provided based on more evaluation with users.
Users should reboot their computers in the morning to ensure they have the latest settings and may have to close or refresh their browser when first using. If you still have issues please reach out to the help desk at 210-829-2721.
Connections to most network services are successful although you may experience slowness. We are still having intermittent problems with connecting to Self-Serve Banner (BannerWeb). External engineers and internal staff continue to work on a permanent resolution.
Progress continues in an effort to restore all network services. At this time, several external services seem to be up and running, such as email and Blackboard while internal services such as Banner and others are intermittent. Senior engineers are actively engaged and we remain optimistic that all services will be restored this afternoon.
